Community and School Context

Context and Setting:
The context and setting in which I will be getting the majority of my information on my student of choice will be in Mr. Greer's second period U.S History.  This is the first class of the day, as students who attend Arvada High School are a part of a block schedule system.  My role in this setting is generally observing the classroom room from a desk in the back of the class, while often walking around and helping those who need and want it.  My student of choice will see my in a role of an extra helper within the classroom.  He will be able to ask me questions throughout the day, and will always have the opportunity to talk to me throughout the class period.  This setting will allow me to observe the student while he is in class and to see how his in-class actions and abilities affect his abilities to learn.  This setting will also allow the student to view me as a educator while also not having the major authoritative feeling with me, as he would with his normal teachers.

Demographic Data:
During my time at the school I have come to notice and become accustomed to the unique demographic of the student population.  The student body is mostly made up of Hispanic/Latino students, with smaller mixture of Black and White students.  The community itself is one that is not generally impressive.  The houses and neighborhoods that surround the school, are small and not necessarily the nicest; the majority of the houses have small un-maintained front yards.
